Teaching Tools: myViewBoard

Introduction & Overview

Installed on the desktop computer in the classrooms is a new digital whiteboard software called myViewboard Whiteboard. This software allows you to draw with your mouse, or even your finger in some classrooms, and have it show up on the projector screen.

Be sure to look for this icon on the desktop computer in your classroom.

myViewBoard Whiteboard allows you to access and open files in Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, spreadsheets, word documents, and more. It has a built-in web browser for looking up images and other web pages to interact with as well as a built-in screen recorder for recording your lectures and presentations.

Creating a myViewBoard Account

Creating an account is not required. However, having an account allows you more options like saving your work and connecting to your Google Drive and other drives you may have. Click the link below to get started.

Once you click on the link above, you will notice the below options on the top right of the screen, click "Try Now".

  • Click Sign up with Google
  • Select or type in your Harcum email
  • Depending on what device you are on it may ask you to log in to your Harcum email, just follow the prompts
  • This should basically be the end of the sign up process
  • When you sign in for the first time it will ask you to select if you are a teacher, administrator, etc.  You will have to select the one you are.

For additional information on setting up an account, right click here and select "open in new tab"

Signing in & Starting out

When you open myViewBoard, you will see this box display in the bottom right corner.

Click on the Google "G" and when the new window displays, sign in with your Harcum email username and password. After that, a web browser will open, prompting you to sign in to the Harcum Hatch. Follow the prompts given on the screen.

Alternative: If you downloaded the Companion App on your phone, open the app.

Companion App

There is an App in your App Store that I recommend downloading. You can open your Camera app on your phone and point it at the appropriate QR code below to find it.

The App is not required to use the software. The App allows you to do a few things like using the camera on your phone to take a picture of an object or paper and send it directly to the classroom computer.

Toolbar Basics

Below is the Toolbar you will find in the myViewBoard App on the computer.  Each tool has a different function.  A lot of the tools mentioned offer more options if you click the button a second time.

1. Windows Toggle - This will minimize your whiteboard program and allow you to use the computer normally but with the ability to annotate and write on the screen no matter what program you open or use.
