The Charles H. Trout Library is committed to the following:
Charles H. Trout made significant contributions to higher education as both a scholar and college president. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and his master’s and Ph.D. from Columbia University. His doctoral research on Boston during the Great Depression formed the foundation of his 1977 book, Boston, the Great Depression, and the New Deal.
As President of Harcum College from 2002 to 2006, Dr. Trout established the Nursing Program and revitalized the College’s athletic programs.
In honor of his lasting impact, Harcum College named its library the Charles H. Trout Library.
