I just got hired as an instructor. What are the next steps?
- Complete New Hire Paperwork
- Order course textbook. If you have not received one, then see your Program Director.
- Teaching Contract - Program Director will submit your contract to Human Resources. You will receive a copy once Human Resources has processed the paperwork.
- Check the Academic Calendar to find out what the important dates are for each semester
- Check Payroll Dates - payroll dates are provided when you receive your contract
- Familiarize yourself with key personnel
- Review what Student Support Services has to offer
What do I need to do before the semester begins?
- Get your Harcum College ID and parking permit if you need one - go to Klein Hall Campus Safety Office for photo ID and permit
- Access Class List
- Check your Harcum email address: for assistance, contact the Information Technology department by phone 610-526-1867 or by email at support@harcum.edu
- Get the course syllabus from your Program Director. Complete with your contact information and send the completed syllabus back to your Program Director
- Create your Canvas Shell - See emails from Steve Pipitone for directions
- Review class attendance and other important procedures
- Review add/drop and withdrawal procedures
- Familiarize yourself with technology resources available. Please contact your Program Director or Site Coordinator for details about the technology available.
- Lockers are available in the Faculty Computer Lounge on the third floor of the Academic Center. Please bring a lock for your locker to keep your personal items safe. Photocopiers are available to use. Please ask your Program Director for the department photocopier codes.
- Mailboxes are located in the Faculty Lounge. These are assigned according to number - check the list in the lounge to find your mailbox number. Please check your mailbox as much as possible for information.
First 2 Weeks of Class
*Remember no canceled classes are permitted the first 2 weeks of classes.*
- Contact your Program Director with the names of any students who are not on your class list
- Follow policy if you are late or cannot make class:
- Inform students of add/drop deadline

End of the Semester
- Submit Grades - If the grade is an "F", please notify your Program Director with the last date of student's class attendance.
