Election Guide: General Information

You can register to vote online, by mail, or at many state government agencies. Pennsylvanians who recently moved, changed their name, or want to change their party affiliation can update their voter registration here.

If you are voting in Pennsylvania for the first time or if you are voting at a new polling place, find out what you need to know to ensure your voice is heard on Election Day.

If you are a Pennsylvania college student, you have many options to vote. You may vote either from your home address or your college address, but you may only vote once.

When completing your ballot, be sure to follow all the directions. Then seal your ballot in the yellow envelope marked "official election ballot." Do not make any stray marks on the yellow envelope. Your ballot must be enclosed and sealed in the yellow envelope marked "official election ballot" or it will not be counted. Seal the yellow envelope in the pre-addressed outer return envelope. Sign and write the current date on the voter’s declaration on the outside of the outer return envelope. If you do not complete the declaration on the return envelope, your ballot will not be counted.

Completed mail and absentee ballots need not be placed in the mail. Instead they may be returned to a secure ballot drop box location in the county in which you vote. The following link provides a list of secure ballot drop box locations in Montgomery County and their hours of operation for those living in the county. Your mail ballot must be dropped off by 8pm on Election Day.
